It's
all over!
ANAHEIM WINS!!
A smiling Mike Roth (GM of FHL
Anaheim ) recieves the Myers Cup from Russian President , Vladamir
Putin.
The trophy was formerly awarded to "the Most Productive
Soviet Auto Worker" in the old USSR until 1989.
It was purchased recently by the FHL and renamed "the Myers
Cup" - now the Champion's Trophy for the Shadow FHL Playoffs.
Andre
Roy sat out game 7 and so, Anaheim coasted to a 6-5 victory over
Florida in the first FHL Shadow play-offs!
Mike
Roth is the innaugural FHL winner of the Myers Cup!
The ducks
had a 6-5 lead, and Andre Roy sat out both games 6 & 7 to
stall a late charge by Steve Stringer's Team.
Roy's loss never gave Florida a chance for an upset. But surely
Mike isn't complaining!
Florida needed to gain only 1 goal, or 1 assist or 6 penalty minutes
to catch Anaheim - assuming that Kubina did not add to his totals
in those categories. Mike Roth would not be denied here and took
the first ever Shadow FHL Playoff in the first minute of the game
- unchallenged.

NOTE: *With no
goalies on either team in the final - G-stat will not count in this final.
It will be considered a saw-off! This
should make the other results more meaningful.
Additional Note: TIE BREAKERs:
In the event that a tie breaker is needed,
the following will used:
#1- Game winning
Goals (both rounds) will be worth an additional 1 point.
If no change, then:
#2 - Points from the NHL Final Round will count as the overtime
result

ANA vs FLA in the ultimate Shadow final!
For Anaheim, Pavol Kubina leads the way for DStat while Alexei
Zhamnov will
be the offensive contributing force. Denis Seidenberg may even
get into
some action, though in truth he won't be needed.
For Florida, Andre Roy will have to carry the entire load, unless
PHI rushes
to sign and call up prospect Carter. Roy may single handedly be
a threat to
match Anaheim's PIMs... but unless he has some magic scoring beans
he sold
all his sheep for, the beanstalk to top the Giant Anaheim team
is
unclimbable for Florida, and if you say otherwise, you don't know
JACK... I
mean Andre Roy!
Sorry Florida, Anaheim hands down.
Smart chimps :)
Steve PIT
The Chimps may be just Chimps, but they aren't going to
take Andre Roy over Zhamnov, Kubina and Siedenberg. Florida will
need a Tampa series win in the first half and an invisible appearance
by Kubina in the second to have any chance. G-Stat for this round
will be a non-factor.
The Chimps may be made "monkeys of" should
Andre Roy out score Pavel Kubina by more than 4 PIMs and 1 goal.
They are nervously watching the rest of the way and feel it is
a true shame that neither finalist has any Calgary players. The
Chimps pick Calgary to take the Cup in 7 games.

Important
Statistical Notes for this Final: |
Given
that FLA was not currently active in the Regular FHL Play-offs
. The Stats for Florida needed to be done by hand.
As a result - It was decided to make the finals free of any
multiplier effect for simplicity's sake. There was also no
effect from G-Stat as neither team had an active goalie for
the final 2 rounds. D-Stat was reduced to simple (+/-) so
that all could track the stats quickly and people can quickly
see how far behind or ahead they may be.
The goal was to follow the premise that home ice should be
much less a factor for two champion level teams. At least
it will make things interesting.

SHADOW FHL
NOTE:*For
G-Stat - ties will now resolve to the lower end of the scale
- so that 4 teams ties with no stats each get 1 point rather
than 4. SHADOW Play-offs only.** This is done as an experiment
to contrast the opposite approach in the regular FHL play-off.
Hopefully, as the shadow play-off is unofficial and experimental
- it will give us a better idea of what impact potential
chanes might have.
